Next Step Recycling Environment Community Economy

Dear Lorraine,
I'm writing to thank you for your generous donations of computers... This program would not exist without help from organizations such as yourself.
Sincerely,
Cathy Casalegno Director of Senior Programs

Residential recycling

NextStep accepts a wide variety of of items, from coffee makers and toasters to the Styrofoam and cardboard they came in. Our donation hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00am to 6:00pm and no appointment is necessary. We refurbish everything we can and have a zero landfill policy so all obsolete/non-repairable items are recycled.
We accept most items for free, but there are a few items we must charge for. If you have any questions about our fees or items accepted, please call us at 686.2366.

We will come to your residence to remove your recycling!

Fees for service:

  • $65.00 an hour labor
  • $1.50 per mile for gas
  • $50.00 minimum
  • plus any per item fees we may have

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Most donations are tax deductible.

What happens to the hard drives and personal data?
If your hard drive is smaller than 500 MB, it will be dismantled (rendered completely unusable) and sent as scrap to be melted down for metal recovery. If your hard drive is 500 MB or larger, it will be completely erased several times in accordance with Department of Defense guidelines. This writes a completely random series of "0"s and "1"s to all disk sectors, overwriting your personal data. If you have data you need to save, please do so before you donate your computer.

I'm not a company, can I still donate?
Yes! In fact, individual donors like you are what allow NextStep to provide this service to the community. NextStep provides tax deductions based on fair market value for individual donors as well as large companies. Shipping costs are also tax deductible. NextStep does not estimate the fair market value; that is up to the donor, as required by law.
