Demand for refurbished technology is up - the ecomony is hitting our marginalized populations harder than ever before. We have more folks asking for resources, we have been training community members fast fast, and we are running out of computers to train them on! Our shelves are almost empty.

Oregon E-Cycles is a 2009 statewide program, financed by manufacturers, that provides responsible recycling of computers, monitors and TVs. After Jan. 1, 2010, anyone bringing seven or fewer items at a time may recycle their electronics at no charge at participating collection sites. Oregon E-Cycles does NOT provide free recycling of other electronic devices.

The Lane County Commissioners Trashbuster Awards were presented to recipients on November 10th in anticipation of National America Recycles Day (November 15). Selected were local community members, organizations and businesses that put their efforts toward reducing or preventing waste in our community.

At NextStep we try our best to offer as many opportunities as possible. We have a variety of training programs, offer education in a variety of community settings, and try to stock our store with a variety of hardware. Variety is what we are all about!

We continue to offer Windows XP and Mac operating systems on our computer builds. We have built Linux systems in the past, but, they have not been as popular.
